So... IPSE. The In Person Selection Event where the American Councils consortium checks out all the semifinalists and gives less vague (but only slightly) details about the program.
It's an incredible experience. There's 120 of us running around the 4H center campus and getting lost and singing and mingling. I've met so many amazing people in the last day or so and absorbed so much new information that I feel like a different person. It's good to be reminded that "oh, yes, I can actually have a conversation about relavent things with 16 year olds" or realize that "no, I'm not the only person left in the country who introduces themselves with a handshake". And then there's the program itself. With a workshop, two group interviews and one individual interview, I spent my Saturday absorbing and expressing as much as I could. It's truly an honor just to have made it this far. I mean, if I go no further, at least I'll know that 1. The scholarships went to great people who I met and 2. I had the experience of IPSE, and I got to reevaluate my own country. All in all, this has been a fantastic experience. They say that in a few weeks we find out if we're in. I don't know, but I'm crossing my fingers and enjoying the ride. Until next time: - Dream big - Work hard - Love lots And stay true to yourself
